Buffer tanks without heat exchanger: Energy saving and efficiency
The inside of the steel tank is not treated, it has a single layer of primer paint on the outside, no internal surface protection is needed, as the water in it will be oxygen-free, so there is no corrosion. In this insulated buffer tank, it stores the water that it also circulates in its heating system. The water in this closed circuit is heated directly by the boiler. It can also be heated with an electric heating pad.
You can only connect a solar collector to the buffer tanks with an internal (or external) heat exchanger, because antifreeze circulates in them, therefore a bottom heat exchanger tank is required. A heat pump can be connected directly to it if the heating circuit does not work with antifreeze. This type is not suitable for storing or preparing drinking water in the absence of a heat exchanger. To produce bath water (domestic hot water, DHW), you can heat the tap water with the hot water from the tank in the case of a heat exchanger type.
If you want to heat the domestic hot water itself, i.e. the water flowing from the tap, in the tank, choose hot water indirect storage, boiler!
